Welcome to Knowledge Base+
An efficient way to manage e-resource subscriptions
Knowledge Base+ (KB+) provides a centrally maintained knowledgebase of e-journal data and Electronic Resource Management (ERM) functionality, offering you a way to manage your e-resources more efficiently.
What does this mean for libraries?
It means you save time and duplicated effort, allowing you to concentrate on collection management rather than data checking and administration.
By collating, verifying and updating metadata for national and regional consortium agreements of e-resources, you can use KB+ to:
- Aid with discovery and delivery as KB+ provides trusted and up to date title lists for access entitlements and makes these available in vendor knowledgebases
- Ensure ongoing access by understanding long-term access rights and routes to digital content, and maintaining detailed records of e-resource entitlements
- Inform decisions about subscriptions and renewals by evaluating the value of your subscriptions to prepare for new deals.
Please note that we no longer add licence information to KB+. These are added to Jisc’s Licence subscriptions manager. But older licences can still be found on KB+.
What does this mean for publishers and vendors?
It means that you can be confident that that your customers have accurate and up to date data about their e-resource subscriptions in a format that suits their needs.
We also make all our metadata available under an open licence and is therefore available to all parts of the library supply chain whenever it is needed in the recognized KBART format. Currently Ex Libris, OCLC and EBSCO all ingest the KB+ data into their systems. For a full list of the packages available from KB+, please visit the Export page.
Designed by and for the library community
KB+ was started to address the needs of the UK academic community in managing e-resources and we know that it will only be used if it continues to meet your changing needs. Therefore, we are always interested in hearing about your ideas and suggestions to develop and improve the service. Please feel free to get in touch with us by emailing help@jisc.ac.uk (please mention KB+ in the subject line).
